Icy conditions in the St. Clair River near Marysville forced divers from the water Tuesday morning, as they tried to reach a vehicle that had gone into the water. According to Marysville emergency officials, rescue crews responded around 7:30 a.m. to a call of a vehicle in the river at the end of Cuttle Road. The incident is believed to have happened around 6 a.m. but divers were not able to get close to the site due to ice flows. Shortly after noon Tuesday, police say a car was pulled from the river and the driver of the car had died. The Chevrolet Impala was pulled from the river around 11:45 a.m.near Cuttle Road, just northwest of Stag Island, according to authorities. Officials said the car went through a metal fence along the waterfront around 6:30 a.m. The current carried the car down river to the spot where it was pulled out and investigators say the victim was found around 9 a.m.
