Bomb threat at Carsonville-Port Sanilac schools

At approximately 8:00 am this morning Sanilac County Dispatch received a call from Carsonville-Port Sanilac High School saying they had found a bomb threat in the boy’s bathroom. Deputies responded to the school while the students were evacuated and taken to the elementary school in Carsonville. Once the school was evacuated and secured the school was searched with the Sheriff’s Office explosives detection K-9. No explosive devices were located and upon completion of the search and the recovery of evidence, the school was deemed safe to be reopened. Through the help and cooperation of staff and students a suspect was developed. The suspect, a 17-year-old male student from the school, was located, interviewed and released. Charges will be sought upon completion of the report and processing of evidence. No injuries were reported and the students name is being withheld until he is arraigned. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Michigan State Police.
