Huron County company making face masks

In the on-going battle against the Coronavirus and to assist front line health care workers and others, a Harbor Beach manufacturing company is shifting gears and now producing a variety of face masks. A shot in the arm to the tune of nearly $200,000 dollars has allowed National Filters, Inc. to purchase new machinery that will allow them to produce surgical and N-95 masks. The $196,000 dollars was made possible by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and as a result of the efforts of Carl Ostentoski, Huron County EDC Director. According to the MEDC, the changeover also brings 16 previously laid-off employees back to work who had been previously laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the new equipment, the company will produce 7,000 surgical masks daily and another 2,000 N-95 masks per hour.
