(TUSCOLA COUNTY) – A Caro man was fighting for his life following a two-vehicle accident in Tuscola County Sunday afternoon.
According to the Tuscola County Sheriff Department, emergency responders went to the intersection of Deckerville and Murrays Roads around 2:30 p.m. in Ellington Township.
Investigators say a Ford pickup truck driven by a 17-year old Deford woman was following a moped west on Deckerville Road when the moped turned south onto Murray.
The pickup truck had pulled out to pass the moped, not seeing a turn signal and the bike struck the truck, ejecting the 55-year old Caro man who was not wearing a helmet.
According to deputies, the driver and passenger of the pickup were uninjured and the use of alcohol and drugs by the teen are not suspected.
The moped driver sustained life threatening injuries from the crash according to deputies and was transported by Flight Care to St Mary’s Hospital. They say alcohol and drug use by the Caro man are suspected at this time.
The accident remains investigation.
Tuscola County Sheriff deputies were assisted by Caro police and fire departments, Cass City MMR and Flight Care.
