Croswell man surrenders to police

(HURON COUNTY) – The search for a man wanted in an incident in Huron County is over.
Billy James Werth, II turned himself in to authorities shortly after noon Monday and was promptly arraigned on multiple charges.
Sheriff Kelly Hanson said formal charges were filed against Werth after he allegedly drove a vehicle into the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
Werth, of Croswell, fled the scene with a five-year old boy after impact, allegedly stealing a vehicle from a nearby trailer park.
He’s now facing a felony charge for the unlawful driving away of an automobile, a misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of an injury accident and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.
The five-year old was not hurt and was left with a family member, but Werth fled the area and police believe he now left the state for a short time.
Sheriff Hanson said Werth posted a $5,000 bond late Monday and will be back in court in the coming weeks.
