Bambi rescued from fall in river

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – The Port Huron Township Fire Department did their good deed for the day Tuesday, rescuing a fawn from the Black River after the young deer was reported to be having trouble after falling into the water.
According to the Port Huron Times Herald, fire officials said a citizen flying a drone in the area around noon saw the fawn go over a break wall in the vicinity of the Best Western hotel in Port Huron Township by the expressway.
Firefighters arrived to find the fawn in the water and managed to pluck the young deer from the water.
The deer was turned over to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources who released the fawn back into the wild.
Fire officials say the area of release was believed to be a high deer population area, where the fawn may have been able to link up with its mother.
