(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – Four Illinois residents were arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly forcing entry into a Port Huron home and taking a 2-year-old boy involved in a custody dispute.
Port Huron Police say a home invasion was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at the 3100 block of Peavey St.
Two 22-year-old women, a 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, all from Granite City, Illinois, drove to the area and knocked on the door.
When the child’s father, a 33-year-old Port Huron resident, opened the door, the suspects forced entry and assaulted him, according to police.
The child’s mother, one of the 22-year-old women, ran in and grabbed the child and the suspects fled the scene.
Michigan State Police, with help from St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office deputies, stopped the vehicle about 15 miles away in St. Clair Township on westbound I-94 where the child was recovered and the four suspects taken into custody.
They are currently lodged at the St. Clair County Jail. The incident remains under investigation.
