(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – A few tense moments in Port Huron Monday morning caused at least one business to lockdown and another told to shelter in place.
Port Huron police responded to the Blue Water YMCA building shortly after 8 a.m. after receiving reports of a suspicious man with tactical clothing on who had entered the building and was thought to be possibly armed.
After employees and children in a daycare at the YMCA were secured in a safe location, police from five agencies swept the building.
After searching the building, and placing the nearby SEMCO building in shelter in place mode, police say the man was an unarmed construction worker who did not pose a threat to public safety.
Employees at SEMCO reported on socal media they were told to hide under their desks for a period of time.
The all clear was given shortly after 10 a.m. with no injuries or arrests reported.
