Last Tuesday, Troopers from the Michigan State Police Caro Post were contacted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office in North Dakota in regards to the disappearance of a 16-year-old male runaway.
The sheriff’s office advised Troopers they had information that he was possibly headed to the Caro area.
After checking numerous addresses and speaking with several of the juvenile’s friends and family members, Troopers were unsuccessful in locating the runaway.
The search to locate the teen continued for several days before police received a tip that the runaway was possibly hiding with his 16-year-old girlfriend.
Troopers mad contact with family members of the girlfriend at their residence where the runaway eventually turned himself in to police.
The juvenile was subsequently turned over to his paternal grandfather in Caro, after receiving permission from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the North Dakota States Attorney, and the juvenile’s family.
