Sanilac County EOC keeping track of virus

The Sanilac County Emergency Operations Center continues to operate as they have since the start of the COVID outbreak earlier this year.
EOC Director Todd Hillman said officials are on the telephone three times a week, getting new information and seeing what the needs are of county healthcare facilities, including hospitals and long-term facilities.
Hillman said phone calls are made every Monday, Wednesday and Friday as officials work to stem the growth of the virus.
Hillman said county schools have been working closely with the health department as well as ISD Superintendent Duane Lange who is part of the Wednesday call.
With over 1,000 cases now in the county, Hillman reports a larger number of cases in the southern half, due largely to a higher population count.
Last month alone, the county reported over 600 new cases and have had nearly 900 new cases since early October.
As of Wednesday, according to State records, Sanilac County is reporting over 1,100 cases with 26 deaths.
