Sandusky fire department responded to a house fire Friday morning
(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sandusky fire department responded to a structure fire around 2 a.m. Friday morning that left four people looking for new accommodations.
Fire Chief Todd Hillman said his department responded to a home in the 200 block of North Elk Street and found heavy smoke coming from the eves and second floor of the residential home.
Four occupants, including three adults were able to escape the home uninjured.
Hillman said his department, along with an assist from Carsonville fire department, used around 500 gallons of water to douse the flames in the attic where an electrical fire had ignited the upstairs structure.
Hillman said two of the family members were assisted by the American Red Cross with lodging, while the other two were staying with family members.
Hillman said no injuries were reported and firefighters remained on scene for around two hours.
