 BOYS BASKETBALL – FRIDAY FEB. 12th SCORES

It’s been a busy opening week of basketball in the Blue Water Area with games continuing on Saturday. Below are some of the results from games played Friday night. Also, upcoming schedules.
FRI. FEB. 12TH
CROS-LEX 75 RICHMOND 35 – The Pioneers left doubt in no one’s mind what the outcome would be early, racing out to a 22-5 first quarter lead and rolling to the BWAC victory. Senior Hunter Soper ripped the nets for 13 first quarter points and fellow senior Tyler Johnson drained a pair of triples to spark the Pioneers’ fast start. A young Richmond squad had no answers for the veteran Pioneers, relying on three-point tries to get on the scoreboard. Cros-Lex led 39-18 at the half and used a 31-15 second half advantage in the second half to post the league win. Soper, who had three dunks in the game, led all scoring with 26 points and Johnson scored 17. Sophomore Trey Koloakovich had a solid game for the Pioneers, playing suffocating defense while also scoring nine points, all in the second half. The Pioneers are back in action today (Saturday) traveling to Brown City.
SANDUSKY 57 UBLY 53 – The Redskins slipped past the Bearcats in a GTC-East contest, picking up their second win of the season overall. The ‘Skins trailed at the end of the first quarter, but found theier touch in the second to take a sl;im 35-33 lead at the half. The two teams played even in the second half, with Sandusky taking a narrow 22-20 advantage to pull out the win. Zach Franzel and Matt Carlson paced the ‘Skins scoring with 15 points apiece. Jared Sanderson added 7 and Kyle Guibord chipped in with six.
BROWN CITY 53 MARLETTE 28 – The Green Devils raced out to a 13-3 first quarter lead and cruised to the GTC-East win over the Red Raiders. Brown City led 20-7 at the intermission and 33-21 after three quarters. Gaden Muxlow paced the scoring for the winners, tossing in 17 points of which 11 came in the second half. He also had four rebounds. Curtis Stanley netted 12 points and had 8 rebounds. Collin Miller topped the Marlette scoring with 12 points.
PECK 61 GENESEE 48 – The Pirates picked up the NCTL win with a solid performance Friday night. Brandon Winarski scored 23 points to lead the Pirates and Kyle Vincent chipped in with 12.
