Lapeer County summer events planned

Although things have been known to change on a dime, at this point, officials are planning on moving forward with plans for the Eastern Michigan Fair this year.
Dates have been set for July 27 thru the 31st for the five-day event that historically draws thousands of people from across the state.
Imlay City officials are also planning a large Sesquicentennial event for later in August and the ever-popular Woods-N-Waters event in September.
While officials remain confident they can safely hold their scheduled events, they are also well aware that the plug can be pulled on any or all of the events at any time, should State leaders give new direction related to COVID-19 requirements.
After having to cancel the Eastern Michigan Fair as many knew it last year, due to COVID, fair officials say many of the events and attractions have agreed to rollover their contracts for 2021.
Also in Lapeer County, officials are planning on holding several events this summer in the City of Lapeer, some of which were cancelled last year due to COVID-19 issues.
Leading the way for special events in Lapeer is the Lapeer Car Cruise, scheduled for May 3rd and will continue throughout the summer every Monday evening from 5 to 9 p.m.
A new event, Lapeer Night Bikes, will fill downtown every Friday evening starting June 3rd and running through late September.
A popular event, the Summer Concert Series, is set to kick-off in June on Thursday evenings.
Sidewalk sales arew also being planned, for select weekends, throughout the summer.
Lapeer Days are also a go at this point as organizers work to make the event safe and fun for the thousands that have attended the event for several years.
Officials say all events have been penciled in and they will be aware of the latest restrictions concerning COVID-19 issues.
