(AREA) – COVID-19 numbers continue to escalate across the State and the Thumb area is no exception.
Health officials in the area report 34 new COVID-19 cases in Huron County, while Sanilac County seems to be a hot spot, reporting 65 new cases since Wednesday and two additional deaths.
Tuscola County reported 38 new cases Thursday, Lapeer County shows more than 5,000 cases with 125 deaths and in St, Clair County, officials report more than 9,100 cases with 259 deaths.
Sanilac County health department officials have reported over 2,400 cases and 77 deaths since the start of the virus.
There have been 2,060 cases in Huron County and another 3,250 in Tuscola with 130 deaths.
Statewide, there have been over 640,000 cases and in excess of 16,000 deaths.
