Huron County deputies investigate fatal accident

The Huron County Sheriff Department is investigating a one-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a 25-year old man.
Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson said deputies responded to the area of Kilmanagh and Brown Road in Brookfield Township around 7 a.m. Thursday.
A passerby had notified Central Dispatch that there was a full size pickup overturned in the deep ditch that had around three inches of water in it.
Owendale firefighters and a two truck removed the GMC pickup from the ditch and removed the single occupant of the vehicle who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Hanson said investigation indicates the vehicle was southbound on Brown Rd., failed to stop at a stop sign and lost control, going into the ditch.
Sheriff Hanson said neighbors believe the accident happened before 5:30 a.m.
The Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy and the investigation continues.
Agencies assisting include the Owendale Fire Department, Scheurer Ambulance Service, and police from Pigeon and Fairhaven Township.
