(LAPEER COUNTY) – Work has begun on one of the newest attractions in Lapeer County, the new Imlay City Splashpad.
Called the Most Impressive Waterpark in Lapeer County in their grant application, Imlay City officials say the project is estimated to cost around $353,000 dollars.
A grant of $150,000 dollars was awarded through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Recreation passport program while another $176,000 dollars will be used from the city’s Parks and Recreation Fund.
The new Splashpad will feature water fountains, water spill buckets and other water-soaking stations along with a shaded area for those who want to stay away from the hot, summer days of intense sunshine.
City officials say the project is expected to be completed by mid-May and are planning a grand opening for Memorial Day weekend.
