(SANILAC COUNTY) -Two people sustained injuries in an ATV accident while a third person was not hurt in Sanilac County Saturday evening.
According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, deputies responded to a home in the 7500 block of north Ruth Road in Delaware Township around 10:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving a side-by-side ATV.
Deputies located a 33-year old female who had been injured in the accident that actually happened on Wetzel Road, near Hunt Road.
Deputies say a 2018 Can-Am Defender ATV, being driven by a 25-year-old Minden City female, was traveling west on Wetzel Road near Hunt Road when the driver went off the right side and attempted to regain control, she overcorrected, causing the vehicle to veer back into the roadway and overturn.
A 49-year-old Deckerville male and a 33-year-old Deckerville female were passengers inside the ATV at the time of the crash. As a result of the crash, the 33-year-old female passenger was injured and was treated on scene by Deputies and Delaware Township Fire Rescue.
The female was transported from the scene to McLaren Port Huron by Sanilac EMS.
The 25-year-old driver of the ATV received minor injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Deckerville Hospital by Central Huron EMS for treatment of her injuries.
The 49-year-old male passenger was uninjured in the crash.
Alcohol and failure to wear seatbelts appear to be factors in the crash.
Names are not being released at this time as the crash remains under investigation.
