Sanilac County Drug Task Force Director Jim Johnson presented his annual report to the Board of Commission earlier this week, reporting an increase in several areas this year.
Johnson reported in the recent Drug Take Back Day, nearly 300 lbs. of unused or expired prescription medications were turned in, with Croswell collecting 84 pounds, the Sheriff Department taking in 82 pounds and Marlette police collecting 64 pounds.
For 2020, the Sanilac DTF received 658 tips and responded to 205 complaints, compared to 214 in 2019.
There were 34 undercover buys made with meth still being the #1 drug used in the county.
46 search warrants were executed, up from 40 in 2019.
93 direct and indirect arrests were made, leading up to 209 criminal charges of which 87 were felonies.
1,20 marijuana plants were confiscated with 517 of those determined to be medical marijuana “caregivers” who were found to be in compliance with State law.
DTF agents recovered 224 tablets of prescription drugs, a 50% increase over 2019.
