Cass City searching for new Superintendent

(TUSCOLA COUNTY) – Just a few weeks after their friends in Caro announced a search for a new school Superintendent, officials from the Cass City school district find themselves in a similar situation.
The board met in special session earlier in the week to act on Superintendent Jeff Hartel’s resignation and to hear presentations from two firms who were shopping their services to the board to help find a replacement.
Hartel’s resignation was accepted with regret from the board and is effective at the end of July.
He had served in the Superintendent’s capacity for the past 11 years and with the Cass City district in various education positions for the past 30 years.
The board heard a presentation from the Michigan Association of School Boards that would cost the district around $5,500 dollars.
A similar presentation by Michigan Leadership Institute would cost $5,800 dollars.
The board will award the bid at a future meeting after considering the services provided by each firm.
