(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sandusky School Board of Education was busy at their meeting this week, taking care of a laundry list of business including approving funding for the removal of asbestos, the purchase of districtwide technology and the announcement of interviews for the new Elementary Principal.
Superintendent Paul Flynn said asbestos was discovered in the glue underneath the hardwood flooring of the elementary gym.
The company approved for doing the removal estimates the project will cost between $13 and $15 thousand dollars.
The board approved new computers, including 70 laptops for staff, 230 new chromebooks and other equipment at a cost of over $197,000 with funding coming from federal dollars, according to Flynn.
Also in board news, Superintendent Flynn said a board committee had reviewed 16 applications for the Elementary Principal position and had narrowed the list to six finalists who will be interviewed.
Among the six are two candidates who are currently employed within the school district.
The board hopes to have the position filled by July.
