Port Huron man dies in Wayne County jail

(WAYNE COUNTY) – A 35-year old Port Huron man in custody in Wayne County died the day after his case was set for trial.
Authorities say Kevin Schram, died May 13 at the Wayne County jail while his attorney says Schram died by suicide.
Schram, who was in custody for a parole violation stemming from an alleged drug deal in December, had an examination hearing on May 12th.
According to court records, Schram was facing multiple charges including assault with intent to murder, possession of firearms by a felon and three other felony firearms charges.
According to authorities, Schram and a friend allegedly went to a house in Detroit to purchase drugs last December, the drug deal went bad and there and there was a struggle.
Schram allegedly shot another man and then fled the scene with his girlfriend, according to his attorney.
