Suspicious vehicle at Owen-Gage school catches eye of officials

Huron County Sheriff Deputies responded to the Owendale-Gagetown School in Owendale to investigate a suspicious situation around 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson said the school superintendent reported a SUV had been seen parked on school property around 10:30 this morning, then it left and it came back in the afternoon shortly after 2:30 p.m.
Hanson said school staff approached the vehicle as it was parked behind the school and made contact with the driver who eventually left the area.
School officials described him as a black male in his upper teens. Sheriff Hanson said prior to the man being contacted, he had removed a car seat and some personal type items from the vehicle and left them outside, based on surveillance video.
Deputies later learned the suspicious vehicle had been stolen out of Oakland County earlier Tuesday morning.
The Huron County Sheriff Department is asking anyone with information, or if they see the suspect vehicle, a gray 2014 Honda, to contact Central Dispatch.
Increased visibility at the school will be happening the next few days, according to authorities.
