Deputies busy over the holiday weekend
(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Memorial Day Weekend was a busy one for the Sanilac County Sheriff Department as Sheriff Paul Rich reports numerous incidents, including one of the waterways of Lake Huron.
Sheriff Rich says deputies handled 83 complaints, making 26 arrests.
Sheriff’s Deputies performed 78 traffic stops with 6 citations, issuing 74 verbal warnings. Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to 15 crashes with no serious injuries being reported.
Sheriff Rich said Correction’s Deputies booked 26 subjects into the Jail stemming from arrests by deputies and other police agencies from throughout the County and the court.
The Marine Division was also on the water this Holiday weekend in Lake Huron waterways, in both Port Sanilac and Lexington Harbors, handling one boating accident and conducted numerous marine patrols which included safety inspections.
No water related injuries were reported and no citations were issued.
The Sheriff’s Office also conducted additional traffic enforcement, using grant funding for Seatbelt Enforcement.
