(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sandusky police department is conducting an on-going investigation after finding two bodies passed out on a porch early Thursday morning.
Police Chief Brett Lester said his department received a call of two male bodies on a front porch in the area of Jefferson and Roberts streets around 7 a.m.
Chief Lester said multiple agencies were called to assist, however it was later determined the two male bodies were deceased.
According to the investigation, the men are believed to be 29 and 39 years old. Chief Lester said the department is investigating the incident as a drug related incident, based on evidence found at the scene.
He said the case is being treated as a fentanyl type overdose, although police are awaiting test results and the outcome of an autopsy to confirm the cause of death with the two men.
Chief Lester also said the department secured search warrants for the house and other residences in the immediate area, locating evidence to support their initial thoughts of cause of death.
Police say there is no threat to the public and the investigation is on-going.
Sandusky police were assisted by Sandusky fire and rescue, Sanilac County Sheriff Department and DTF and Sanilac EMS.
