Suspect arrested in Huron County fatal hit and run case

FRIDAY, JULY 16TH 3:30 p.m. UPDATE:

The suspect of this incident, Hunter W. Dubs, was arraigned this afternoon in the 73B District Court. He was formally charged with a felony of failing to stop at an accident resulting in death and a felony charge of tampering with evidence. His combined bond for both charges was set at $40,000 or 10% ($4000) in order to be released. As of the time of this press release, he remains lodged in the Huron County jail.

(HURON COUNTY) -An 18 year old Owendale man has been arrested in connection to the fatal traffic – pedestrian incident that took place in Huron County last Monday.
According to Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson, the arrest took place around 8 p.m. Thursday night in Caseville.
Sheriff Hanson said deputies received a tip shortly before 5:30 p.m. that eventually led to the arrest after law enforcement executed a search warrant to search and seize the suspect’s concealed vehicle.
The arrest of the suspect went without incident, according to police.
The suspect’s currently lodged in the Huron County jail without bond awaiting formal felony charges for the felony hit and run incident that caused death.
67-year old Linda Shaw sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle while walking in Chandler Township Monday evening.
Sheriff Hanson thanked the multiple agencies involved in the case as well as those that came forward with tips on the case and the person who stepped up to donate reward money.
Five Huron County police agencies, along with the Huron County Sheriff Department, worked to make the arrest happen.
The suspect’s name and formal charges will be released following his arraignment.
