BREAKING NEWS:

(SANILAC COUNTY) – A three-alarm structure fire Thursday afternoon snarled traffic in western Sanilac County shortly after noon.
Sanilac Central Dispatch sent the Marlette fire department to reports of an occupied structure on fire, just south of the intersection of M-53 and M-46 in Marlette Township.
Upon their arrival, Marlette firefighters had flames coming from the front of the two-story home and requested mutual aid from Moore and Lamotte Township fire departments.
The Sanilac County Sheriff Department and Michigan State Police were on scene to assist with traffic flow on M-53 near Rutherford Road.
The occupants of the home were able to escape the flames prior to firefighters arriving.
The first floor of the house sustained heavy fire, water and smoke damage while it was unclear about the damage to a second story.
Firefighters were still on scene as of 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
