Crashes keep emergency agencies busy

Accidents  investigated

(SANILAC COUNTY) – Two personal injury accidents in Sanilac County Thursday kept multiple emergency agencies busy, including fire departments, law enforcement and EMS.
In the first incident, two Port Sanilac woman were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Lexington Township Thursday afternoon. According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call shortly after 4:30 p.m. reporting a two-vehicle traffic crash on South Lakeshore Road near Harrington Road in Lexington Township.
Deputies along with Lexington Police, Lexington Fire Department, Croswell Fire Department, and Croswell EMS responded to the scene. Deputies’ investigation showed that a 62-year-old female from Port Sanilac was northbound on South Lakeshore Road in a 2015 Chevy Equinox when the driver was stopped on the road due to another vehicle in front of her making a left-hand turn.
A 56-year-old female from Port Sanilac driving a 2020 Chevy Equinox then rear-ended the 2015 Chevy Equinox. Both females were transported to McLaren Port Huron hospital by Croswell EMS.
In the second crash, two people were injured in a one vehicle accident in Sanilac County’s Evergreen Township late Thursday evening. According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a single-vehicle rollover accident on Germania Road near Shabbona Road in Evergreen Township, just before midnight.
Deputies along with Argyle Fire/Rescue, MMR EMS, and Sanilac EMS responded to the scene. Deputies say a 35-year-old Bad Axe woman driving south on Germania Road in a 2003 Buick Rendezvous, when she fell asleep, crossed over the center line, and entered the east ditch.
The vehicle then struck an intersecting ditch and culvert and rolled over multiple times. The Bad Axe woman was transported to Covenant by MMR EMS while a 29-year-old Bad Axe male passenger was transported to Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City by Sanilac EMS.
Deputies say names are being withheld at this time due to this being an ongoing investigation.
