(SANILAC COUNTY) – Above are the winners of the DTF sponsored bicycle drawing held at the 2021 Sanilac County 4-H Fair in Sandusky.
The winner of the girl’s bicycle (left) was 9-year old Skyler Kolakowski of Marlette – daughter of Larry and Nicole Kolakowski.
The winner of the boy’s bicycle (right) was 11 year old  Alex Aben of Applegate – son of Ashley and Richard Sanders.
The Drug Task Force would like to thank Lynnette Lawrence-Kirk and the L.K. Insurance Agency in Sandusky for providing space for the bicycles to be raffled. The drawing is in support and awareness of the DTF Millage supported T.E.A.M. Education in the Sanilac schools systems.
During the period of shutdown  of our drug education services in the schools due to Covid-19,  the Drug Task Force Board and local law enforcement switched from the D.A.R.E. Program instruction to T.E.A.M. ( Teaching – Educating- And – Mentoring).
It was felt that the Michigan State Police based program provided a larger coverage of current issues that the students would deal with in grades K-12 and could be individually structured for each area school and what was going on in their communities.
Local T.E.A.M. instructors include officers from the City of Sandusky, Marlette, and Villages of Deckerville and Peck.
A Sheriff’s Deputy is being scheduled to cover Croswell – Lexington Schools, Brown City School, and Carsonville- Port Sanilac.  This program can start when each school is able to safely allow other instruction activities.
