(SANILAC COUNTY) – History buffs and those looking to stay in shape by walking have a new opportunity
for some exercise, as a result of the new walking trail in eastern Sanilac County.
The new one-mile nature trail at the Sanilac County Historic Village and Museum in Port Sanilac was dedicated in September and open for use, according to Museum personnel.
During the walk on the path, visitors will twist and turn their way over the trail, seeing plenty of history along the way. The trail includes a fairy garden, sun garden, tree sculptures, a boardwalk, birdhouses, and plenty of birds and wildlife.
The new trail was made possible with countless hours by volunteers along with various fundraisers and donations.
The Sanilac County Historic Village and Museum is a collection of more than a dozen historic buildings located on ten acres of the original estate of Dr. Joseph Loop.
