(SANILAC COUNTY) – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident in Sanilac County’s Lexington Township late Monday afternoon.
According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, emergency personnel responded to S. Lakeshore Road at Walding Road just before 6 p.m.
Deputies say a 2013 Ford F-350 pick-up, driven by a 65-year-old Lexington man was stopped in the northbound lane of S. Lakeshore, waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so he could turn onto west onto Walding Rd.
While stopped, the man’s pick-up truck was rear-ended by a northbound 2015 Volkswagen Passat, driven by an 81-year-old Harbor Beach man.
After the collision, the truck came to rest on the west shoulder of Lakeshore Rd. while the car came to rest in the northbound lane of Lakeshore.
Lexington Fire/Rescue and Croswell EMS personnel treated both victims on scene before they were transported to McLaren Port Huron Hospital by Croswell EMS for further treatment.
Deputies say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
