Sanilac County Sheriff Department Sheriff Paul Rich
(SANILAC COUNTY) – While every threat that has been made, and for those that continue to be made and are fully investigated, the frequency of them appears to be slowing down some, according to law enforcement.
Sanilac County Sheriff Paul Rich said shortly after the tragedy in Oxford, both county and local law enforcement was expending numerous resources to investigating multiple threats on a daily basis.
Sheriff Rich said each one was taken seriously and looked in to by school staff along with county, local and state police.
Districts from Croswell-Lexington, Sandusky, Deckerville, Brown City and Carsonville-Port Sanilac were among those that have reported threats since the deadly shooting in Oxford on November 30th.
According to Sheriff Rich, there has been one juvenile detained from the Sandusky school district, although he did not say if the student was still in custody or not.
Police say the threats have revolved around social media threats that have false information in them and have ben repeatedly circulated by students.
Sheriff Rich says he met with all of the Sanilac County Superintendents Thursday morning to make sure everyone was working together and feels there is a great collaboration for safety protocols between schools and law enforcement.
