Sanilac County, Port Sanilac firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire last week, on Hyde Road between State and Ridge. Upon their arrival, firefighters found an unoccupied vehicle in the middle of the road, fully engulfed in flames.
It took the department just under an hour to extinguish the flames and have the vehicle removed from the roadway.
Also in Sanilac County, Sandusky firefighters responded to a report of a fire in the Walmart store on West Sanilac Road early Saturday morning. Store officials had evacuated the business of guests and employees, and reported to Central Dispatch that smoke could be smelled inside of the store with fire alarms going off.
Sandusky fire responded to an electrical room at the rear of the store. Moore Township was called for mutual aid to Sandusky, but was cancelled before their arrival. There has been no report of damage or injuries from the incident.
