COVID cases in Sanilac County less than 100

Weekly COVID cases in Sanilac County are among the lowest they have been in several weeks and under 100 total cases for the first time this year.
Department officials gave their weekly update Tuesday afternoon, reporting 77 new positive cases with four additional deaths.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been more than 7,200 positive cases in the county, not including those who may have tested positive by using home test kits.
There have been 167 deaths related to COVID in the past 24 months.
By age group, there were 14 new cases in each of three age groups, from 40 to 70 years old. 13 cases were reported in those 31 to 40 while all other age groups had less than double digits positive test results.
There were just six positive cases reported to the health department in school-aged children.
By community, Sandusky had 20 positive cases before the numbers dropped off dramatically, with Marlette reporting nine. Carsonville, Deckerville and Lexington all reported eight cases while Croswell had six.
There has been nearly 24,000 positive cases of COVID reported to health departments in Sanilac, Huron and Tuscola counties.
