(Clyde Township) An 80 year old Wales Township man waskilled in a one car crash in Clyde Township Wednesday morning.
Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Lapeer Road, east of Taylor Road, shortly after 9:30 a.m.
According to investigators, the man was driving eastbound on Lapeer in a 1964 Buick Electra when he apparently crossed the centerline and went into a ditch on the north side of the road.
Deputies say the vehicle continued along the ditch until striking a tree.
The man was transported to Tri-Hospital EMS to Lake Huron Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Deputies were uncertain if the man had suffered some type of medical emergency or not.
Clyde Township Fire and Rescue also assisted deputies at the scene.
