(SANILAC COUNTY) – The Sandusky Police Department was kept busy in 2021, responding to over 2,500 calls for assistance.
In his year end report to city council, Chief Brett Lester reports the department finished the monthly of December 177 calls, their second lowest number of calls for the year.
There were 26 traffic stops, 26 verbal warnings and eight accidents.
For the year, the department responded to a total of 2,595 calls, made 121 adult arrests and arrested 14 juveniles. 497 traffic stops were made, 83 traffic violations were recorded and 353 verbal warnings given.
The department’s blight officer responded to 161 complaints last year and officers had 69 assists to other departments.
A majority of the total calls for 2021 were less than the previous year when officers responded to over 3,000 calls in 2020.
2022 is off to a three-year low in number of calls responded to in January for officers, as they have taken 189 calls. They had 217 calls in January of 2021 and 330 calls in January of 2020.
