Speaker Township fire department in Sanilac County will be hosting a Medical First Responder Course at their newly approved satellite location at the Speaker Township Fire Department on Brockway Road, beginning April 1, 2022.
The course is free to all in-county providers (millage dollars at work for you) and only $250.00 for out-of-county providers.
It is designed to provide students with the core skills necessary to sustain life and prevent further injury at the scene of an emergency until more advanced help arrives.
The MFR course covers basic safety at the scene of an emergency, fundamentals of patient assessment, basic airway control methods and other specialty topics.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the National Registry MFR exam.
Students who successfully complete this course and pass the National Registry exam will meet MDHHS requirements to apply for an MFR license.
To take the class, you must be at least 18 years old to apply for a license with MDHHS, after successful program completion.
You must also be a high school graduate or have your GED.
