Sanilac Sheriff announces promotions within department

(SANILAC COUNTY) – Sanilac County Sheriff Paul Rich has announced several promotions within the department involving three employees.
In recent action, Sheriff Rich promoted Lieutenant Ryan McConnachie to the role of Jail Administrator and named Nichole Keinath as Lieutenant/Jail Administrator. Sheriff Rich also announced the promotion of Deputy James Anderson to the rank of Sergeant.
In a press release, Sheriff Rich stated the following:
Lt. Ryan McConnachie promoted to Jail Administrator: Sanilac County Sheriff Paul Rich is proud to announce the promotion of Lieutenant Ryan McConnachie to the role of Jail Administrator. Lieutenant McConnachie began his career at the Sheriff’s Office in May 2003 as a Corrections Deputy. Lieutenant McConnachie was promoted to Sergeant in 2014 and then promoted Lieutenant (Assistant Jail Administrator) in 2019. He has held many positions within the Office, such as; Transport Deputy, Background Investigator, Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Chemical Agent Instructor, Less Lethal Munitions Instructor, Taser Instructor, and Academy Instructor. Lieutenant McConnachie is a graduate of the 2021 Michigan Sheriff’s Association Jail Administrator’s School and the 2018 Michigan State University School of Staff and Command Sheriff Rich stated, “We are proud of Lieutenant McConnachie as he takes on his new role as Jail Administrator, and look forward to new ideas in the Corrections Division.”
Sgt. Nichole Keinath promoted to Lieutenant/Assistant Jail Administrator:
Sanilac County Sheriff Paul Rich is proud to announce the promotion of Lieutenant Nichole Keinath, she will take on the role of Assistant Jail Administrator. Lieutenant Keinath began her career at the Sheriff’s Office in September 2002 as a Dispatcher. She transferred into the Corrections Division in June 2004. Lieutenant Keinath was promoted to Sergeant in 2010 to be the first female Sergeant in the Corrections Division. With her promotion to Lieutenant, she will be the first female Lieutenant in Corrections. She has held many positions within the Office, such as; Transport Sergeant, Background Investigator, Mission Team Investigator, Field Training Officer, and Work Release Tether Program Coordinator. Sheriff Rich stated, “We are proud to add Lieutenant Keinath to our administrative team and we are looking forward to seeing all she can accomplish with her continued dedication to the Sheriff’s Office.”
Deputy James Anderson promoted to Sergeant: Sanilac County Sheriff Paul Rich is proud to announce the promotion of Sergeant James Anderson. Sergeant Anderson began his career at the Sheriff’s Office in May 2014 as a Corrections Deputy. Deputy Anderson became a K9 Handler in September of 2019 when he was partnered up with K9 Zuzana. He has held many other positions within the Office, such as; Defensive Tactics Instructor, Less Lethal Munitions Instructor, Chemical Agent Instructor, Field Training Officer, and Classification Officer. Sheriff Rich stated, “We are proud of Sergeant Anderson and we are looking forward to seeing his leadership develop in the Corrections Division.”
