Four perish in Lapeer County mobile home fire

(LAPEER COUNTY) – The Michigan State Police Fire Marshal’s division has taken over the investigation into what caused a house fire that claimed the lives of four people in a Dryden mobile home community early Monday morning.
According to the Dryden Township Police Department, four people died in the fire, which was reported at a home at the Victoria Meadows Mobile Home Park.
Dryden Township Police Chief Shawn Peters said he didn’t want to speculate on the relationships of the four people who died, but said he was told it was likely a woman in her 80s, her daughter and two teenage grandchildren.
According to authorities, the incident was reported in the Victoria Meadows Mobile Home Park in Dryden Township, south of Imlay City around 5 a.m.
A helicopter flew over the scene Monday morning in Lapeer County, showing images of a heavily damaged and burned out mobile home residence in the park.
Neighboring residences had debris that had landed on their roofs along with melted siding on mobile homes on either side of the fire scene.
Neighbors told police they heard a loud bang or explosion prior to the home becoming engulfed in flames.
Dryden Township and Almont firefighters battled the blaze and later learned of the four people deceased inside the burning ashes.
No identification has been made of the victims.
Police say more information will be made available when they receive it.
Michigan State Police fire investigators are being assisted by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department.
