(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – The Yale Jr. High school was placed in what school officials said was a modified lockdown, after administrators were made aware of a potential threat that was found.
In a message to parents, Superintendent Kurt Sutton said around 8:30 Tuesday morning, the Junior High administration was made aware of a potential threatening message in a bathroom stall.
Sutton said after the lockdown was announced law enforcement responded and video was reviewed, along with lockers being searched.
The Superintendent said students and staff safety is the district’s top priority and felt the students were safe in their classrooms as the incident was investigated.
Sutton said further updates would be given and added, all other buildings in the district were not in lockdown and operating as usual.
Once officials are able to determine whether or not the threat is legitimate, students will be allowed to resume their normal daily schedule.
