COVID cases continue to drop in Sanilac County

()SANILAC COUNTY) – The number of COVID cases in Sanilac County has all but dried up, as Health Department officials report just five new cases in the past week.
Monday’s report is the lowest number of cases in the county in the last several months. By age group, there was one case each in those infant to one year old, 11 to 18, 19-22, 51-60 and 61-70 years of age.
There were no cases in those ages 23 to 50 and 71 years of age and older.
Carsonville, Deckerville, Marlette, Melvin and Peck all reported one case apiece. The reported numbers do not reflect any positive cases discovered from home testing.
The number of positive cases has been on a steady and quick decline over recent weeks, following eight weeks of triple digit cases from early January through February.
A high of 426 cases were reported from January 17 to the 23rd while a week earlier there were 340 positive cases.
There were nearly 1,500 positive cases in January alone in Sanilac County.
The death count increased by two in the most recent report, leaving the county with 174 deaths.
