Search continues for new Administrator; 18 apply

Tara Griffith
The Sanilac County Board of Commission continues to accept applications for the position of Administrator/Controller, following the surprise resignation of Tara Griffith who has filled the position the past four years.
Griffith made her announcement at a Board of Commission meeting in early March, giving the required 90 day notice of separation and will complete her duties in May.
Personnel Committee Chairman Gary Heberling said there has been 18 applications received so far for the position, with a filing deadline of April 14th.
Of the 18 applications, one of them was from a current employee in the Courthouse while six others are from the Thumb area, Heberling said.
The Personnel Committee will review all of the applications and narrow the field down to three or four finalists before final interviews are held, according to Heberling.
Commissioners say they were caught off guard by the announcement by Griffith, saying the opening will create a huge void in County operations, but they were confident other employees will step up in the short term while a replacement is found.
Griffith has been with the County as Administrator for four years and currently makes $104,000 dollars per year.
Commissioners expect to pay a new Administrator in the area of six-figures or just under, depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications.
