St. Clair County Police have obtained an arrest warrant in the case of a missing woman they believe was abducted by her ex-partner. 55-year-old Carol Debbie Durand is described as 4’11” and 90 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes, and was with a friend at the time of the abduction.

The 47 year old male witness reported that 52-year-old Gabriel Wagner entered Durand’s East China Township home, located in the 5200 block of Pointe Drive, aroud 2:20 a.m. this (Wednesday) morning. After severely assaulting both Durand and her friend, Wagner forced her into a black 2007 Honda Accord with a Michigan license plate reading DAB8010 and fled the scene.

Later Wednesday morning, around 10:00 a.m., the St. Clair Sheriff’s Department was informed that Wagner and Durand were at a hotel in Ohio near I-75. At press time, police in that jurisdiction are attempting to negotiate with Wagner for a “peaceful end.” In the meantime, St. Clair detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for Wagner on charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do bodily harm less than murder and aggravated domestic violence.

Ohio law enforcement and St. Clair officers are continuing to work together on the investigation at this time.
