road-work-2

Today, Wednesday, July 6, maintenance on 8 bridges across Sanilac County will begin. The almost $360,000 project includes deck patching, joint sealing and epoxy overlays across the following bridges:

  • M-25 over the Big Creek, north of Port Sanilac
  • M-90 over the Potts Drain, west of Peck
  • M-19 over the Elk Creek, north of Peck
  • M-19 over the south fork of the Cass River, south of Ubly
  • M-53 over the White Creek, north of Marlette
  • M-53 over the north branch of the Cass River, north of M-81
  • M-53 over the south branch of the Cass River, south of M-81
  • M-46 over the south branch of the Cass River, west of Sandusky

Each location is expected to be finished after two working days, with July 16 being the planned end date, and traffic will be maintained in the areas via temporary signals.
Bridge maintenance also started yesterday, July 5, in St. Clair County, with Palms Road at Belle River being the focus of the work. The contracted length of this bridge project is 90 days. The St. Clair County Road Commission is also preparing for construction on Wales Center Road between Rattle Run and Smiths Creek Roads, beginning July 11 and hopefully finishing up by July 22.
The road in Wales Township will be ground up, repaved and raised by two inches, with road shoulders being repaired as well. The work will be finished under a full road closure and detour plan, with the detour being Rattle Run Road to Fitz Road and then to Smiths Creek Road. Barricades will be put up on Wales Center Road, but residents of the street will be allowed to drive through.
