Following a call to Sanilac Central Dispatch threatening Sandusky City Hall, municipal employees and others were forced to shelter in place on Wednesday, July 13, for almost half an hour.
The call came from a 33-year-old Sandusky woman who, according to Police Chief Brett Lester, made the call at 1:20 p.m. that day, “stating that she wanted to come to city hall to hurt people.” The building went into lockdown for about 25 minutes while police investigated. With dispatchers able to trace the call to a cellphone in an upstairs Lincoln Street apartment near Elk Street downtown, the woman was placed in custody and evaluated at McKenzie Hospital for 24 hours.
When she was released from the mental health evaluation, she was booked into county jail and now is awaiting arraignment on a possible charge of malicious use of a telephone.
