Two people are dead after being hit by two separate vehicles last night in Port Huron Township.
It was about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, when a 30-year-old Marysville man called police to report he had hit a someone riding their bike in the 3700 block of Dove Road.
In the meantime, a woman living near the accident scene came aid the 56-year-old Fort Gratiot man who had been struck, only to be hit by another vehicle, with the second driver fleeing the scene. When the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, they found the first driver still at the scene. He is cooperating with police; meanwhile, the other driver could not be located at first.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office shared via Facebook around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday that the second vehicle was located, with his car being described as a light colored Lincoln sedan. The second driver is being considered a person of interest and is currently in police custody on an unrelated warrant.
Both the bicyclist and the 40-year-old woman were declared dead at the scene. Anyone with information is urged to call (810) 987-1711 with their tips for the detectives.
