The Huron County Sheriff’s Office says that a single-vehicle crash occurred early Tuesday morning after the 30-year-old driver fell asleep at the wheel.
The Gagetown man told police when they arrived at the scene around 3:00 a.m. on August 30 that he had been driving east on Bach Road in Brookfield Township when he fell asleep, running off his Chevy Silverado the left side of the road, crashing into a ditch and overturning the vehicle. However, the vehicle wasn’t done moving, traveling half a mile backwards before crashing and coming to rest against an embankment.
When officers responded to the scene with Owendale Fire Department and Sebewaing EMS in tow, the man had face and head injuries from the accident, noting major back pain as he was transported to Scheurer Hospital.
