Hernandez plans to campaign “as normal” despite recent kidnapping threat

St. Clair County Sheriff Mat King recently confirmed that former state representative Shane Hernandez of Port Huron received a kidnapping threat last Friday.
Hernandez, who was recently named Tudor Dixon’s pick for lieutenant governor, says he was notified about the threat and that he will not be adding extra security or stopping his campaign activities.
The threat is still being investigated by the sheriff’s office, having had it reported to them around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, on the eve of the Michigan convention where Dixon named Hernandez as her running mate for this November’s gubernatorial race.
Hernandez says that he will continue to have an extra person, such as a guard or staffer, travel with him when campaigning, but he plans to continue “as normal.”
