Tuesday afternoon traffic crash in Marion Twp. sends two to hospital

accident-2

A late afternoon accident at the intersection of Deckerville and Maple Grove Roads in Marion Township on Tuesday resulted in a pair of Deckerville citizens being transported to the hospital.
It was around 3:48 p.m. on October 18 when Sanilac Central Dispatch received the call, sending Sanilac County Sheriff deputies to the scene with Sanilac EMS and the Deckerville Fire Department.
Investigation determined that a 39-year-old Brown City man was driving north in his 2020 Chevrolet Silverado when he came to the intersection’s stop sign, where he stopped but did not actually yield. This failure to yield resulted in collision as the man drove into the path of an eastbound 2015 Dodge Journey.
Both the driver, a 73-year-old woman from Deckerville, and her passenger, a 76-year-old man also from Deckerville, were later taken to Deckerville Hospital for further treatment, whereas the Brown City man refused further treatment after being checked at the scene. All parties involved had been wearing their seatbelts during the ordeal, with airbags deploying in both vehicles.
In the crash’s aftermath, the Sanilac County Road Commission assisted with the resulting traffic.
