Out of the seven school board elections taking place on Tuesday, November 8th, only three of them are contested.
In the school districts of Brown City, Carsonville-Port Sanilac and Peck, all candidates are running unopposed for their board seat, with CPS having two incumbents, Ken Poirier and Renzie Milarch, running for the two open 6-year seats.
Peck will also have all incumbents in their race: three candidates– Renee Alfaro, Stephanie Collins and Shane Welch– for the three available 6-year terms, with incumbent Margaret Schreiner eyeing the partial term seat.
Brown City will be welcoming a new face Ryan Banks to the board, with incumbents Michele Vilas, Theresa Kohler and Robb Gingell joining him in running for the four open four-year seats.
Meanwhile, Deckerville’s School Board has a partial term and two six-year terms available, but no one officially on the ballot, meaning that the positions will either be filled by write-in votes or by board appointment.
As for contested school board races, Cros-Lex has three six-year seats that five candidates are scrambling for, including incumbents Amie Stilson, Dennis Gardner, Michael Noll and new challengers Gwen Powell and John Hollingsworth. There are also two partial terms on the Cros-Lex ballot, with incumbents John O’ Hair and John Maxey running for those seats unopposed.
In Sandusky, incumbents Bob Hassler and Carolyn Stoutenburg, and newcomers Justin Radloff and Troy Tank are vying for three six-year seats.
In Marlette, it’s two incumbents against three challengers for the three open 6-year seats, with Nik Woods and Jamie Macumber hoping for reelection and new faces such as Rachel Hager, Jill Thomas and Daniel Klatzke hoping to win their first terms.
