While Croswell, Deckerville and Lexington get to skip mayoral races this midterm, having held their races two years ago, 10 other communities across Sanilac County will be heading to the polls to decide town leadership next Tuesday.
Despite there being ten races, there are only nine incumbents running, with no one on the ballot at all for the village of Melvin. Though the terms for both village president and village clerk expiring this year, Melvin’s major races are instead those for treasurer, where incumbent Brenda Murray is seeking reelection, and the city council race, where two seats are open but only one candidate on the ballot, incumbent Scott Markle.
Meanwhile, Minden City incumbent Allen Mike Pierson and Port Sanilac’s Raymond Mach are the only two facing challengers in their races, with Pierson going against Minden Township planning commission member and longtime resident Timothy Mausolf. Mach will be facing Damien Falcon, a 37-year-old Port Sanilac resident and firefighter.
As for the rest, voters will see familiar names on the ballot, but as a quick refresh, your incumbents are:
- Michelle Warren, Applegate;
- Julie P. Miller, Brown City;
- Donald Pangburn, Carsonville;
- Tim Sielaff, Forestville;
- Charles Bush, Marlette;
- Carrie Bennett, Peck;
- Thomas Lukshaitis, Sandusky.
